The PSNC has reported on an analysis of results from a respiratory medicines use review (MUR) project in the south of England, which found that the interventions used led to better asthma control and COPD symptom management.
The Inhaler Technique Improvement Project enabled community pharmacists in the South of England to conduct MURs with people about their asthma and COPD medication. As part of the reviews, pharmacists carried out asthma control tests (ACT) or COPD assessment tests (CAT) and recorded the results in an electronic system. Over 5,100 MURs have been delivered across 206 pharmacies across the region.
